Membership in the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society is open to any person or organization who is interested in genealogy, who intends to further the business and purposes of this Society and to abide by the rules thereof, who applies for membership and tenders the necessary dues. They shall thereby be a voting member of this Society.
Members receive discounted registration for WSGS seminars and Gene-A-Rama conferences, and the WSGS Newsletter. WSGS members can also register for genealogical classes and workshops sponsored by the Wisconsin Historical Society at WHS member prices.
In the Member's Only Site, members will be able to view the WSGS Newsletter from 2006 to the present along with every name indexes for some of the early years of the WSGS Newsletter. WSGS Webinars are archived and available for viewing by members after the live webinar has been concluded. Wisconsin Place Names and the Milwaukee County Marriages Index, Book A have also been added for viewing by member's only. All three volumes of the Pioneer & Family Certificate Indexes have also been added.
The WSGS membership year runs for year from the date of joining WSGS. Memberships may only be prepaid for a maximum of two years.
The basic voting membership with all rights and privileges including the quarterly WSGS Newsletter in electronic format and access to the Members-Only Website (if you provide WSGS with your e-mail address).
Two qualifying individuals residing at the same address. Together they receive access to the Members-Only Website (if an e-mail address is provided; one login per membership), one copy of the WSGS Newsletter in electronic format, and each has one vote.
One individual under 25 years of age. Includes all voting rights and privileges, the quarterly WSGS Newsletter in electronic format, and access to the Members-Only Website (if you provide WSGS with your e-mail address).
Any Wisconsin-based genealogical or historical membership society, or the like, may be granted affiliate membership upon application. Affiliated Societies will be entitled to the WSGS Newsletter in print, and to one vote. Additionally, they may identify themselves as, "An Affiliate of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society," on their communications, publications, Website and advertising.
Affiliates of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society receive the following benefits:

One member of an Affiliated Society may attend WSGS conferences at the member rate, even if they are not a WSGS member.
Publication of Affiliate events on the online WSGS Events Calendar by notifying the WSGS office of them.
A link from the WSGS Affiliates web page to the Affiliate's website.
Mention of the Society's name, address, and website address in the syllabus of each WSGS conference.
One free quarter-page advertisement per year in the WSGS Newsletter.
(Please note that Affiliate Membership does not grant the Affiliate WSGS' tax exempt status. Each organization must file for its own tax exempt status per IRS guidelines.)
Institutional Newsletter Subscription -- $30.00
Libraries, archives, and other genealogical or historical societies not based in Wisconsin may subscribe to the WSGS Newsletter. This is a subscription only, not a membership, and therefore comes without membership or voting privileges.
Surcharge for Print Newsletter -- $12.00
For those WSGS Individual and Family members who choose to continue receiving the quarterly Newsetter in print format, please include this surcharge to help defray printing and postage costs.
