Friday Fun Day- September 13 “Researching Church Records and Postcards” by Debra Bailey Trail.

Deb started researching Monroe churches using the 8 churches listed in the 1935 Monroe Directory. She uses the information to write articles for the Green County Genealogical Society’s newsletter and to help others with their research. She has found information for her own family by looking at church records in other areas.

Deb collects postcards from where her ancestors lived. Looking at old postcards and current ones make the location come alive for her.

Deb grew up in Rockford, IL. After college she became interested in her family tree. Her paternal mother’s side, the Eliakim Allen family, settled in Green County as pioneers. Her great-great grandpa served as sheriff.

Deb met Donna Kjendlie (via the internet) and became a charter member of the GCGS. Even though she lives in Washington State she is the newsletter editor and remains active in the society.

The Green County Genealogical Society will hold its Friday Fun Day September 13   from 1-3 pm in the Research center located in the lower level of the Monroe Public Library.

For any questions about the meeting or presentation, call Donna at 608-921-1537.
