Wisconsin STate Genealogical Society

WSGS Services and Resources

The purpose of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society is to encourage, facilitate and improve the quality of genealogical study in Wisconsin and about Wisconsin families.

What WSGS DOES NOT do:

Personal Research. -- Persons seeking assistance with your genealogical research in Wisconsin can consult the directories below to consult a professional genealogist.

Maintain a library or accept donated family history materials such as photographs, family group sheets, pedigree charts, scrapbooks or accumulated research. PLEASE do not throw those precious materials away, though!  There are many local history rooms in public libraries or local historical societies which would love to have materials relating to people who lived in their area. Please contact them about possible donations.

Appraisal of Collections -- The Wisconsin State Genealogical Society does not do appraisals or put a value of any kind on personal or private collections. The Wisconsin Historical Society provides a list of professional appraisers on their website:

WSGS DOES provide Wisconsin genealogical and historical researchers with links and information about researching their Wisconsin ancestors.  Please see our Wisconsin Resources Section for a comprehensive list.
